Testimonial From Graduates
Lani Lopez
Since graduation I have had a full and rewarding career as a naturopath. South Pacific College of Natural Therapeutics gave me the basic grounding and confidence to tackle the challenges and opportunities that have made Natural Health not just my passion, but my career. It has been and continues to be a diverse and stimulating work life, taking me into private clinical practice, onto media, made me a twice published author, taught me to train others and given me love of constant research and learning. From corporate wellness to product research and development, the broad scope of a naturopathic qualification brings a wide and varied range of opportunities.
I am constantly grateful for the degree course I undertook and the life enriching learning it gave me. How you apply the insight and learning available from SPCNT is up to you. It is limited or defined only by your drive and your vision. Take it as far and as fast (or slow) as you wish.
Whatever your calling, personal wellbeing, a base for your own business and practice or a corporate career, if you have a strong life philosophy, are dedicated to life enriching learning and are prepared to be challenged, then talk to one of the finest naturopathic colleges in New Zealand, SPCNT.

My role at Metagenics NZ Ltd is as Technical Support Officer,
and involves telephone practitioner support, research and seminar presenting in New Zealand and Australia. I entered into this employment directly after finishing my education at SPCNT.
In my Naturopathic and Herbal Medicine training at SPCNT, I enjoyed a lively atmosphere of education whilst gaining a firm foundation in medical science and naturopathic philosophy. The whole course was strengthened by having the opportunity to add the Charles Sturt University's Bachelor of Health Science in Complementary Medicine, which has set a new standard for Naturopathy in New Zealand. This has set me in good stead to enter into the Natural Health and Complementary Medicine arena with confidence in my background and resources. Apart from knowing that my training came from lecturers with a wealth of experience, I also enjoyed making enduring friendships with others of like mind. I continue to enjoy visiting the college now as a guest lecturer, and love to see new generations of natural health practitioners evolve.

I run my own clinic in Remuera, Katie Kempthorne Naturopathy, within a larger clinic with 2 physiotherapists, an acupuncturist, a podiatrist and a massage therapist.
SPCNT gave me a solid educational base from which to develop my skills as a practitioner. It gave me the medical knowledge to be right at home in all medical environments, it taught me the skills I would need to relate to people about their health, and it opened my eyes to new way of looking at health and wellbeing. I can't recommend it more highly.
The medical background and clinical focus at SPCNT gave me the skills and confidence to set up my clinic, and practice what I'm passionate about - helping people achieve their health goals.

I have my own clinic, trading as Health Mechanics. I share rooms with a massage therapist and a chiropractor.
Studying at SPCNT has enabled me to turn an interest into a passion. I love the art of natural healing and feel well equipped to operate my own practice.
I have met so many interesting people along the way and will remain friends with a lot of them forever. We keep in contact a lot and have a great support network.

I own a wellness centre and also have a naturopathic clinic at my home. I also teach pilates.
The content of the course and the information is fantastic. The depth and breadth of information is brilliant. The clinics are professional and a wonderful indication of how your own practice will operate. A great confidence booster.

I have a naturopathic clinic at my home.
By attending a well known and respected college, I was confident my training was up to the standard that is needed in the industry.
The students I have trained with have become my peers, so you can have good contacts with others in the natural health industry.

I am working as the Naturopath & Trainer for Blackmores - which involves training pharmacy staff on the Blackmores retail product range. I also see the odd client on an ad-hoc basis.
SPCNT organised a fantastic EXPO day which was a great time for me to speak with various Health companies about work opportunities. It was this initial meeting which resulted in my eventual employment with Blackmores. It was lots easier doing this all in one place and all in one day than travelling to each individual company!
It was through my years of exposure to a variety of lecturers at SPCNT that I came to realise two things 1. Our natural health industry is a small network where everyone knows everyone - thus to find work it is important to just get out there and talk with those who you would like to work for or with; 2. There are many different directions that a 'natural health degree' can take you - you don't necessarily have to end up in private practice straight away, or at all, if you don't want to.

I am currently living in the UK and am pleased that my education is acknowledged here and recognised. I am a member of the General Council and Register of naturopaths here in the UK. There are clinics here that rent out their rooms in blocks of 4 -8 hours or more. Advertising, fresh flowers a secretary who books in clients and sends out the bills all part of the deal. I am currently working in such a clinic for 4 hours on Saturday and can so build up a clientele, until I have enough clients to support me and I then will be able to work fulltime as a naturopath.
As one of only two male graduates in my year, I would like to say a few words in praise of the wonderful support I got from not only my fellow female students, but also from the college staff. Being a small college we had an intimate and friendly environment, which helped massively to pass the challenging course. Naturopathy and herbalisim is fascinating and I am glad that I got such a good deep founded knowledge not only in the herbs, Bach flowers, homoeopathy, but also in anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology.
I really appreciated my time at the school and think it provides a great learning environment.

I completed my studies with SPCNT at the end of 2008 and started my clinic in Auckland immediately. I have just finished my first year in business as a qualified naturopath and medical herbalist, working 2 days a week. My practice has grown from 2 to 4 patients per week to 8 to 12 per week in that year.
The success of my practice is the result of my qualifications and the comprehensive courses available at SPCNT; from learning and understanding herbs, nutrition, professional practice combined with a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology and how to take a holistic approach to treating patients.
The staff at the college were always available and helpful to the students. The new clinic rooms are very professional and welcoming and I was proud to have my patients come to these rooms. It was with thanks that I left SPCNT to embark on my new career.
